Great Salt Lick Contest Rules
All entries must be salt blocks licked by cows or other livestock. Range blocks licked by wildlife will also be permitted. Blocks licked by humans will not be permitted. Licks may be subject to DNA testing. Blocks with human DNA will be eliminated and offenders banned from future contests.
This Year’s Cash Prizes
There will $1,225 dollars in prize money.
1st Place: $200: 2nd Place $150 3th Place: $125: 4th Place $100
People’s Choice: 1st: $150 2nd $100 3rd $75
Best poem: 1st $150 2nd $75
Best Forgery: $100
Please wash your block off before entering
Include the following information with your entry:
- Ranch and/or person representing animal
- Contact: phone or address
- Type of cattle horse sheep goat gerbil or whatever
- Name or number of animal (if any but a good name could help you win)
- Name of sculpture (if any but a good name could help you win)
Which category you are entering your block in? Only one category is allowed. Drop off entries at Richland Feed & Seed in Richland, Oregon Trail Livestock Supply in Baker Churchill Art Center in Baker. Replacement blocks will be supplied by Richland Feed & Seed and Oregon Trail Livestock Supply. Please submit entries by September 15th. No more than 1 entry per person. Judging committee will judge blocks for originality and artistic flair. All different types of blocks are eligible (mineral, selenium etc.) Blocks only. Drawings, photos, paintings of sculpted blocks will not be accepted. Cows caught using steroids will be canned. Mad cows will be eligible for psychiatric treatment.
This event will take place at Churchill School Arts Center, in Baker City, September 17th Saturday. Block viewing starts at 5 PM, Auction begins at 7. Mib Daily will, as usual, be the auctioneer. The contest will be taken with a grain of salt.
